“The Lord has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8
This is what’s good.
This is what God requires.
And yet here we are—still fighting for basic justice and dignity in a nation that claims to be built on equality.
It grieves me how long this battle has been going on.
George Floyd’s death seemed to shake something loose in the world, exposing pain that’s been simmering for generations. And while policies and protests have a role to play, I’ve come to a sobering realization:
This battle will not be won by laws alone. It will only be won when hearts are healed.
Because as Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:12:
“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world…”
This is a spiritual battle.
Yes, we need reform. Yes, we must speak out and stand up. But if hearts remain unchanged, the cycles will continue. Hurt will keep hurting. Systems will keep strangling. And the next injustice will just restart the outrage clock.
What we need is a heart shift. A healing that only God can do.
This doesn’t mean we stop speaking truth. It means we remember where the real fight lies—and how real freedom is found.
So we pray.
We act.
We grieve.
We listen.
We walk humbly.
And we keep doing what is right—even when it’s costly.
Because mercy matters.
Justice matters.
And hearts transformed by Jesus are still the greatest hope this world has.
